Hello,
I use Lanster 0.995 under windows XP and like its usefull functions but i have a problem. I can't save my settings, and the default settings seems to be anormal, i explain :
- Max search results is set to 0 - Max simultaneous downloads is set to 0
Also, when i launch a search, it usually search the first computer locates in the workgroup i chose and then stops unexpectedly. It sometimes crash and close whitout an error message.
The most likely reason whitch make me think that it is due directly to Lanster is that my friends have exactly the same issue, and i tried after a new install with a formated hard drive. Do you have any information that can help us ?
Thanx in advance for your help,

Do you use an English Version of Windows? Do you get any error messages? Can you delete your options file named LANster.ini and start the program. It will generate a new one autoamtically. If this doesnt work send me an email and I can send you a beta of the latest version.

No, i use a french version of windows XP SP1. perhaps That's the problem...
i have no error messages, except when i make a mistake by setting up the program options badly (ex : setting search results to 35000...) I deleted the ini file and it changes nothing. While i use Lanster, the ini file contains the changes i make, but when i exit lanster, the ini file is returning with bad values. I even write the ini file "by hand" in notepad to edit my settings, then save it, but when i start lanster it is still using the "bad parameters" ! i'm changing my computer by now, i'll try on the new one tomorrow and will send you a mail if the problem is still here.
thanx for your help anyway,
man

I think I know what the problem is. Another user reported the same problem and we tracked it down to a non-English version of Windows. The program saves options in your Windows language and then loads them expecting English. The current version of LANster fixes this problem. I could send you the beta if you want to test it. Send me an email as I want to make sure this is the problem before releasing the new version.

Hi,
well i try the beta version and it works fine ! Settings issues are solved, parameters are saved correctly when exiting. But, i've still a little problem : As searching, the program stops and quit unexpectedly ,sometimes whitout an error message, sometimes with this one :
Run-time error '2147417848' (80010108) Automation error
Maybe it can be due to the computers on which i try to search (some are firewalled, and i think it can cause problems like those) I believe that i had the same issues with the previous version.
However, thanx for your great help, i will inform you when i'll have used Lanster more further.
Bye

That's great. Im glad we solved the stiings issue. Now, the other error...can you get a screen capture of the error message and when exactly does it crash? You may also turn on the troubleshooting log in the options. If you can re-create the problem send me the log for analysis.

You can change your system back a month just temporarily or I can send youa new build. Let me know what you want to do so that I can troubleshoot this problem.
