I only recently installed LANster, and already admire what it does as I am on a university network of about 600+ computers :-)
A few possible recommendations that i think are worth considering for future versions (if you havent already thought of them):
1. A progress bar (similar to kazaa etc) to let you know how your download is getting on.
2. An option on the right click event to allow you to pause and resume downloads.
3. A more stable program! Mine constantly claims to be not responding (although it keeps going and recovers after a while). This could be due to me running XP, but it certainly aint my system!
If i think of anything more i will no doubt come and post! Sorry if i am repeating what someone has already said.

Glad you like it. Now on to your recommendations:
1. and 2. The functions I use for downloading are basically an all or nothing type of function. This is a result of the development language I use. At some point I may switch to a downloading function that is broken up into sections. It's a pretty substantial function rewrite and it is probably better to rewrite the program in another language. Im not sure if that will happen or not.
3. The function for looping through the network nodes at times get "stuck" but what it is doing is waiting for a response from your OS. If you have ever opened up Network Neighborhood on a large network then you will notice a lag when browsing manually through the nodes. The program is basicaaly doing the same thing. Again, the lag is a result of the development language I use and at some point a port to another language would be the best thing to do.

Fair enough mate!!
I understand what you mean about it being a serious thing to rewrite the function. I am studying programming at uni at the moment!

hehe... I am on a uni network of about 600+ computers in the halls of residence! I know EXACTLY what that comment is on about!
I'm curious, what language have you used to create Lanster?

Yeah, at work my LAN is h_u_g_e so I know about response from the network. I used that network as a testing bed for the program and its worked well so far. At home I never would have ran into the problems I would have at work.
