I have found a small bug in Ruby versions 0.87.6 and below. If running the program on a system with Windows 95, 98, or Me then the volume serial number of a Disc will be returned as "0000-0031". Running the program on an NT-based system (ie Windows NT, 2K, or XP) should not exhibit this bug. Work is under way to fix the bug and thus have the proper volume serial number returned on any platform. I may also provide an additional tool to test a specific Disc for the proper volume serial number and to insert it into the database.

My apologies for not finding this bug sooner but most of my home and work related programming is done on an NT-based machine.

Update: According to my tests, this bug seems to manifest itself only on Windows 98 First Edition, and perhaps Windows 95. If anyone is using the program under Windows 95 it would be helpful to run a test and send me the results.

Update: Reports from some users show that the bug is exhibited only on certain systems with Windows 95 or Windows 98 First Editon but not all. I will add an advanced option to get the serial number with an alternative method if the traditional way does not work.
